The Illinois Sexual Assault and Medical Forensic Services 2-hour Training is being provided by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General SANE Program to meet the mandatory continuing education requirement for responding to sexual assault survivors as addressed in the Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act (410 ILCS 70/2).
Not included in this training, but also required by the law, is information on the hospital's sexual assault-related policies and procedures. Please make sure to check with your hospital regarding these additional requirements.
ACCREDITATION: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program. The SIU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CREDIT: The SIU School of Medicine designates this internet enduring material for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 2 AAP Category 1 CME credit for completing this program.
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board (AANPCB) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME as an equivalent number of hours of participation.
SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act. Nurses may receive a maximum of 2 contact hours for completing this activity.
All other attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion.
